Dwwa is an international wine competition with great international influence. It is organized by decanter, a world-famous wine magazine, founded in 1975. The event is held once a year and is open to wineries and winemakers all over the world. Tens of thousands of wines participate every year. The whole competition is divided into four steps: application, sample grouping, evaluation and announcement of results. The competition adopts a full score system of 20 points. There are no awards below 14.5 points, 14.5-15.4 points are recommended awards, 15.5-16.9 points are bronze awards, 17-18.4 points are silver awards, and more than 18.5 points are gold awards.

2021 is the 18th year of decanter world wine competition. A total of 18093 wines from 56 countries and regions participated. In two weeks, 170 top wine experts, including 44 master of wine and 11 Master Sommelier, conducted three rounds of blind tasting and scoring of more than 18000 wines from 56 countries. Like dwwa in 2020, the competition adopts a strict management method that meets the epidemic prevention requirements to ensure the safety of the review and staff.

Due to the international travel restrictions caused by the epidemic, Michael Hill Smith, the joint judge of the competition and wine master, failed to come to the scene and participated in the competition as a consultant. The sommelier, Ronan sayburn, acted as the joint chief judge on behalf of Andrew Jefford and wine master Sarah Jane Evans.
